Placement within the Story | The remains of continuous land reclamation projects have been left intact since the practice was started in earnest during the early Edo Period by the Kumamoto Domain daimyo Kato Kiyomasa. Among these, several that were constructed during the Meiji era have been designated as Nationally Designated Important Cultural Properties. This includes Suehirobiraki, Meichubiraki, Meihoubiraki, and Daihoubiraki, which reach a total of 5.2km in length. |
